The grand opening of the Performing Arts Center at Yosemite High School will be held Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. The public is welcome.
The center is located near the intersection of School Road 427 and Road 428.

Drama students will perform scenes from their upcoming production of “Romeo and Juliet;” choir and band students will also perform and there will be a student art show. Refreshments will be served.

The $2.5 million renovation project turned an existing classroom into the center that can seat up to 400 people.

Drama students will use the center as a classroom when they are rehearsing for productions.

The new music classroom building is located adjacent to the center, making it convenient for students to rehearse in the facility.

The performing arts center is part of the school’s remodeling and expansion project that started in 1999 after voters approved an $11.76 million bond in 1998. Additional funds for all of the projects came from state bond funds, state-matching funds, private donations, developer fees and grants.
