Red Cross Life Guard training offered at Yosemite High School

Yosemite Adult Education is offering an American Red Cross Life Guard Training class Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17 and April 23 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Baker Swim Complex at Yosemite High School.

Cost is $100 which includes book and pocket mask. YHS aquatics director Chad Houck will teach the class.

Pre-registration is required; class size is limited to 10 students.

This 28-hour course teaches potential lifeguard skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.

Prerequisites are: Must be at least 15 years of age; swim 550 yards continuously using crawl, breast and sidestroke for 100 yards each; stroke of choice for 200 yards; dive to seven feet and retrieve a 10 pound brick; and tread water for two minutes using legs only.
