Yosemite High School seniors, Justin Barigian and Lesley MacDonald
rehearse the lead roles for the upcoming Romeo and Juliet play.
Beginning tomorrow,
Thursday, March 3 the new Yosemite High School theatre will open its
first play, “Romeo and Juliet,” with a twist.
“The kids are really excited about the play, they have been rehearsing
since November, they are pretty pumped up,” said Lars Thorson theater
arts director. “We are setting the play ‘somewhere between Riverpark
and Clovis,’ and using modern music, modern dress, but we will retain
Shakespeare’s language.”
Twenty-five students will be performing in the play and there is a
back-stage crew of about seven students.
The play will run March 3 through the 5 at 7 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on
March 5. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets may
be purchased at the door or you can call for reservations at (559)
683-4661 ext. 256.
