Relay
for Life May 21-22
The
sixth annual Relay For Life in Eastern Madera County has set a new
record for the number of teams participating. A total of 29 teams
have signed up. Although it is past the deadline for new teams to
sign up, if someone wants to be on a team they can call chairperson
Janice Ellis, (559) 683-0968, and she can make arrangements.
The 24-hour event will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22,
at Wasuma School in Ahwahnee. The fund-raiser for the American Cancer
Society (ACS) begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and continues through to 9
a.m. Sunday. One person from each team will be walking or running
the track the entire 24 hours.
Funds raised from team registration fees, donations collected by team
members and sale of luminaria go to the ACS to help pay for patient
services the organization offers.
Special events are planned to honor cancer survivors. For information
about survivor events, luminaria, donations or anything else regarding
the relay, contact Ellis at the number above.
