High School FFA Chapter recognized at banquet

SPECIAL TO THE SIERRA STAR
Several
members of the Yosemite High School Chapter of Future Farmers of America
attended the East Fresno-Madera Sectional Awards Banquet. It was hosted
by Duncan Polytechnical High School, Fresno, on Monday, April 4.
The evening began with a tri-tip dinner served by the FFA Chapter
of Duncan Polytech.
Representing Yosemite FFA as sectional officers were Castin Ecklund
and Lindsay Bolsta.
They began with the opening ceremony along with the other sectional
officers. The evening’s goal was to award FFA members for their participation
and dedication to FFA and to their individual projects.
The Yosemite FFA had 13 members present that were selected to receive
awards at various levels. The Star Greenhand Award was presented to
the following freshmen: Karen Boortz, Jessica Gambril, Alex Plumb,
Brianna Wolters and Robert Zimmerman.
Recipients of the Star Chapter Award were Lindsay Bolsta, Travis Ecklund,
Nick Ricker and Kaiti Simms.
The presentation of awards culminated with the State FFA Degree. The
Yosemite Chapter was well represented in this category. These members
received their State FFA Degrees: Nick Burkert, Castin Ecklund, Crystal
Hubbard and Stacie Wesemen. The FFA’s mission is to make a positive
difference in the lives of students by developing their potential
for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through
agricultural education.
