The Yosemite High School FFA students gathered recently for the Greenhand
Banquet and awards celebration.
COARSEGOLD — In
November 2004, a number of Yosemite High School students and parents
made their way to the Coarsegold Community Center to join in the festivities
at the 2004 FFA Greenhand Banquet and learn the new officers.
The Yosemite FFA Chapter officers gathered on stage to congratulate
and award the Greenhand certificates to the freshman participants.
Each year willing freshmen enrolled in the FFA travel to a conference
that enables them to meet other FFA students from various schools
across our region.
They play leadership-building games, split into groups with the hosts
of the conference and learn more about the FFA and the incredible
opportunities it can offer students.
Before attending the conference, Greenhand officer applicants faced
a panel of three chapter officers and the Ag Advisor, Julie Stewart.
Each applicant was asked many questions that concerned his/her involvement
in the FFA and the office being applied for.
This year there were six applicants and six offices to fill.
After the handing out of the Greenhand certificates the names of the
2004-05 Greenhand officers were read. They are: President, Alex Plumb;
Vice-President, Jessica Gambril; Secretary, Karen Boortz; Treasurer,
Robert Zimmerman; Reporter, Amber Rohrig; and Sentinel, Jason Hawkins.
