Yosemite Adult
Education will offer a variety of classes starting within the next
few weeks. For more information, log-on to the Yosemite Joint Union

Unless otherwise noted, all classes are held on the Yosemite High
School campus on Road 427, Oakhurst.
Prepared Childbirth Education classes start Tuesday, Feb. 24, and
continue through March 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Evergreen High
School on Road 427, Oakhurst; cost is $55 per couple. The six-week
class includes physical and emotional preparation for birth including
comfort measures, breathing and relaxation. Newborn care, breast-feeding
and Cesarean birth are also covered. Review couples are welcome.
Participants are to wear comfortable clothing and take two pillows.
Introduction to the Internet will be held Saturday, March 6, from
9 a.m. to noon in Computer Lab 32; cost is $20. Students will learn
how to go onto the Internet and what to do once they are there.
They will learn about e-mail and how to search a topic.
Jump Start Office 2000 starts Monday, March 8, and continues through
May 10 from 6-9 p.m. in Computer Lab 31; cost is $35. This eight-week
class will concentrate on using all the programs in Office 2000.
Two weeks will be devoted to Word, two to Excel, two to Access and
two to PowerPoint. This class is geared to the beginning student.
Intermediate Macromedia Flash MX will start Tuesday, March 9, and
continue through April 13 from 6-9 p.m. in Computer Lab 32; cost
is $30. This program allows users to integrate video, text, audio
and graphics for marketing and presentations, e-learning and application
user interfaces. This five-week class will teach students motion
tweening, bitmaps, buttons movie clips, working with text and sound.
Intermediate Adobe Photoshop 7.0 starts Monday, March 15, and continues
through April 26 from 6-9 p.m. in Computer Lab 32; cost is $30.
Basic knowledge of Photoshop is a prerequisite. This five-week class
will teach photo retouching, pen tool techniques, advanced layering
techniques, how to create special effects and to combine Illustrator
graphics and Photoshop images.
Fast Internet: “So You’ve Got Fast Internet, Now What?” will meet
Tuesdays, March 26 and 23, from 6-9 p.m. in Computer Lab 31; cost
is $20. This two-week class covers thinks to do with high speed
Internet and how to protect yourself against common Internet threats.
