As
many of you know, Oakhurst resident Sam Rowlett lost his battle
with leukemia last week.
The Vision Academy of the Arts and the Sierra Chamber Singers are
dedicating their upcoming concert, “Made in America,” to him.
All concert proceeds will go towards the establishment of two musical
scholarships, in Rowlett’s name. The scholarships will be awarded
to graduating seniors next year.
Rowlett’s love of music and his fellow man were felt and appreciated
by all who knew him.
“Made in America” will showcase all American music, including spirituals
and gospel, folk songs, show tunes and barbershop numbers and will
feature soloists, as well as the Chamber Maids.
In addition, there will be a raffle of the “Sammie Rocking Horse,”
made and donated by Don Ebert, as well as an original watercolor,
“Brush Strokes,” by Jane Gyer.
The concert will be performed on Saturday June 5 at 7 p.m. and again
on Sunday June 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the New Community United Methodist
Church. A donation of $5 per person is requested.
Tickets may be purchased from any choir member, at Dorsey’s Hallmark
Store, or at the door.
For additional information, please call the Vision Academy at (559)
