Shawn Long, Yosemite High School quarterback, uses curls to strengthen his upper body during a recent session in the Badger weight room.

The Badgers’ football prospects are “hard at it” spending Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the weight room. The Badger team will play on a new grass turf. The field has been totally reconstructed with a full artificial track. The grass turf is so smooth it appears to be artificial.

The bleachers have been re-done. The press box has been remodeled and increased in size.

The weight room is a must for off-season athletes, providing what’s needed for the athletes to develop the muscles needed for their area of competition.

“Speed and strength are essential for today’s athletes — those are the qualities developed in the weight-room,” stated Head Football Coach Aaron Eames.

The Badgers are preparing for a scrimmage against Fresno High School on September 3 at Fresno and will include freshman, sophomore and varsity players.

The Yosemite varsity and junior varsity teams will open practice play against McLane. The game will be played on Sept. 10 at McLane Stadium.

The junior varsity game begins at 5 p.m. and the varsity game will start at 7:30 p.m.
