The Yosemite High School FFA Boosters are holding a dinner/dance/auction
fund-raiser on May 22 at the Oakhurst Community Center.
The event is to raise money for FFA, a youth development organization
devoted to preparing students for leadership and career success
through agricultural education.
The Boosters are comprised of parents who join together to support
the young people in FFA.
Their goal is to be able to have funds available to help with things
such as student field trips, competitions, livestock raising and
scholarships.
Said Fundraising Chairman Sheila Page, “It’s all about the kids.
What with budget cutbacks, the kids have to pick up their own expenses
such as transportation to events and this dinner really helps them.”
Dinner consists of marinated tri-tip, garlic potatoes, green beans
with bacon, salad and garlic bread.
There will be dancing to live music by Wild Card, a group specializing
in country and old-time rock-and-roll.
There will also be a silent auction.
Two of the prizes announced so far are a stay in a Fish Camp bed
and breakfast, and dinner at Table Mountain casino.
Donations of cash are always welcome, and items to be auctioned
will be accepted until May 19.
FFA Boosters will pick up donations, which can also be dropped off
at either Oakhurst Beauty Supply or Yosemite Lumber.
Cost of the dinner, which includes two drinks, is $25 per person.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 7 p.m.
