Music will fill the Mountain Area soon as the Yosemite High School Choirs present their Winter Choral Concert, Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Sierra Church in Oakhurst.

“The concert will feature a wide variety of holiday music taken from many traditions,” said Yosemite High School Choral Director, Dr. Tony Mowrer.
Tickets are $5 for adults; $3 for children and students, or $15 for a family of four or more. Tickets are available from any YHS choir member or at the door.

Our Lady of the Sierra is located at 40180 Indian Springs Road in Oakhurst.

During the holiday season, the choirs will perform at various events throughout the Mountain Area, some at private events and others available to the public.

“The choirs are prepared and they sound great,” Dr. Mowrer said. “I think we will have many enjoyable performances.”

The YHS Choirs will participate in the 2004 Christmas Tree Auction Holiday Event this Sunday [Dec. 5] at 3 p.m. in The Pines Resort Lakeview Room by decorating a fresh wreath for the auction.

The Concert Choir will perform at Fresno Flats Historical Park from 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12.

On Dec. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m., all the choirs will travel to the Tenaya Lodge to entertain for guests in the lobby of the Lodge.

The Chamber Singers will provide dinner music at Erna’s Elderberry House Christmas Eve [Dec. 24].

The Choral Department has sold fresh Christmas wreaths to help raise money for the choral department.

There are still wreaths, centerpieces and swags available for purchase. The YHS Badger Bobble Head, “Studly,” is now available at Von’s and Raley’s grocery stores. “Studly” Bobble Head is also available at Mountain Candies, Pak & Page and the Coarsegold Market. All funds raised benefit the choral departments with travel expenses and concert uniforms.

For more information on the choir performance, fresh Christmas items or the “Studly” Badger Bobble Head, contact Dr. Tony Mowrer at (559) 683-4667, extension 242.
