Daniel Buller, who was a 2003 all-league baseball player at Yosemite High School, last week was chosen in the 2004 major league draft.

Buller was drafted in the 49th round by the New York Mets. He will do what is called a “draft and follow.” That means Buller is obligated to the Mets through the June 2005 draft. If, at that time, he is not signed by the Mets, he will be eligible to be drafted by another major league team. The Mets’ scout, Chuck Hensley, traveled from the East Coast last week to work-out the deal.

Buller, a left-handed pitcher, will continue playing for Fresno City College during the 2005 season.

Burns is Bee all-star
Jake Burns, Yosemite High School’s all-league pitcher/first baseman, received yet another accolade. He was designated as one of the Fresno Bee’s 2004 all-star players. This distinction was given to just 11 players.

Ted Lilly update
Former Yosemite High School baseball player Ted Lilly is pitching for the Toronto Blue-Jays. He is 5-3 with a 4.02 Earned Run Average (ERA). Lilly is a “starter” for the Jays.
