Tom Fiormonti is the athletic director for both the girls and boys athletic teams.

The sports for the fall: Football, varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams. Girls’ volleyball includes varsity, J.V. and frosh teams. Girls and boys cross-country, varsity J.V. and frosh teams. Also included in fall athletics are girls tennis and girls golf. There will be water sports at the newly finished YHS pool.

Fiormonti also has the responsibility of some the duties of assistant principal. “There are many pluses in this job, especially the developing communication with parents,” he said. He continued, “Telling a student that he or she is scholastically ineligible is a ‘downer’ for me. The students get excellent training at Yosemite High School and being removed from a team is a regretful experience. We also have some problems with club teams during the off-season. But we are working to solve this problem.”

Fiormonti sees his job as aiding the athletic experience for the players and the coaches.

The student population at Yosemite High school is approximately 1,275 students. Last year 535 students participated in athletics.
