Jacob Dodderidge capped off an incredible athletic year by being named the 2003/2004 Yosemite High Athlete of the Year. YHS coaches voted for the candidate. Only graduating seniors are eligible. Fred Worstein was second in the voting.

Dodderidge was a three-sport athlete. In football, Dodderidge broke 11 school records, including season records in receptions, TD receptions, and interceptions. Dodderidge was named MVP at YHS, CSL Offensive MVP, and second team all state by CalHiSports.com. He was also named to two all-star games, City/County and North/South Rotary. It was an amazing year as it was Dodderidge’s first year playing varsity competition.

In basketball Dodderidge was an integral part of the rebuilding process at YHS. Dodderidge led the Badgers to a return to the playoffs. The team finished second in the CSL. Dodderidge broke the single season record for assists as well as the Badger career assist mark. Dodderidge, a three-year starter at point guard was voted all-CSL for the second straight year, and was named to the Central Motors Central Valley All Star game in Bakersfield.

Finally, in track, Dodderidge ran the sprints. It was his first year running track.

He ran a 10.96 100m, fourth fastest all-time at YHS. Dodderidge was also part of the record-breaking 4x100 relay team.

Dodderidge will continue his athletic career at Alan Hancock Junior College in Santa Maria. He will participate in football as a wide receiver and plans to run track.

Worstein, the fastest Badger ever
Fred Worstein was a dual sport athlete at YHS.

Worstein completed a stellar football career by being named YHS offensive player of the year. Worstein, who played WR/DB and kick return, was also named CSL all league at WR. Worstein was named to both the City/County and North/South Rotary all-star games. Worstein made big plays all year and secured a big win over Dos Palos.
With he and Dodderidge at corners, the Badgers could afford to single cover all receivers, certainly a difficult job.

Worstein recently completed the greatest track career at YHS history. Worstein holds YHS records in the 100 (10.57) and 200 (21.5).
Worstein also anchored the fastest 4x100 relay team, destroying a 21-year-old record.

During league meets, Worstein also long-jumped and ran the hurdles, usually scoring in four events. Worstein was named most valuable track athlete (men) and participated in three state meets. Worstein was Valley champion in the 100 and 200 for two consecutive years, unprecedented in YHS history.

Worstein will continue his track career at College of Sequoias in Visalia. He will be a member of one of the best JC track teams in California.
