Ryan Summers tries out the tennis backboard he built and installed at the Yosemite High School courts.

A new backboard has been added to the Yosemite High tennis courts thanks to a Senior Project developed by Ryan Summers. Ryan and his dad, Mike, put up the finished backboard this past weekend.

Ryan had always liked to practice his strokes against a backboard, but since YHS did not have one and knowing he had to develop a senior project, Ryan begin to plan and design the backboard.

He developed a list of materials and then began to locate and talk to merchants about donations to the project. H&L Lumber provided most of the lumber needed and firms in Fresno donated the bracing, bolts, paint, and other building items including Lowes Building Supplies, California Industrial Rubber, and Fergusson Enterprises.

Ryan hopes the community will enjoy his project for many years to come. He plans to attend California State University, Fresno next year to major in business with an emphasis in marketing.
