MESA students plan for contest

All Yosemite High School students who participated in the recent MESA Day Competition qualified to go to the state level in Sacramento May 3.

 

The Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement [MESA] regional competition was held at California State University at Chico. Arlene Aoki is the MESA site coordinator.

 

YHS students brought home two first-place gold medals, a tie for first place and two third-place bronze medals.

 

The Web Page Design Team, coached by Linda Robison, won first place. Members of the team are William Bowles, Nick Bendz and Matt Fullerton.

 

The 3-D Eye Model Team, coached by Carole Calderwood, also won first place. Team members are Amy Stillman and Justin Barigian.

 

Justin Barigian and Matt Fullerton tied for first in trigonometry/algebra II.

 

Patch Kientze took third place in geometry and Amy Stillman won third in algebra.
