Yosemite FFA member are proud and thrilled by the first place awards

Since
its inception in 1928, Future Farmers of America (FFA) has followed
a long standing tradition of ceremony and purpose. Every chapter
meeting across the country is opened and closed with a ritual that
speaks to the heart of the organization. The president calls the
meeting to order and asks if all officers are at their stations.
The vice president calling roll of the officers starts with the
Sentinel, who responds, “Stationed by the door.” The vice president
then asks, “Your duties there?” The Sentinel responds, “Through
this door pass many friends of the FFA. It is my duty to see that
the door is open to our friends at all times and that they are welcome.”
The roll call of officers and duties are asked of the Reporter,
the Treasurer, the Secretary, the Advisor, the Vice President and
the President.
These opening ceremonies are a source of pride, identity and tradition
among FFA members and chapters, and they are expected to be memorized
and perfected. To this end sectional competitions are held on opening
and closing ceremonies.
This year's competition took place at Reedley College on Nov. 12.
Over 60 teams participated.
Yosemite FFA sent 24 students in four teams to this annual event.
They consisted of two freshman teams and two open teams which were
open to all grades. Our two freshman teams both took second place.

Outstanding Greenhand Secretary.
Our open teams did an excellent job and took first and second places.
The second place team members were Colby Simms, Heather Plumb, Lindsay
Bolsta, Sabrina Ressler, Dylan Thamas, and Hollie Shreve. The first
place team consisted of Ashley Vetter, Crystal Hubbard, Stacie Weseman,

Practice and diligence really paid off for our chapter. We earned

were the most we have sent to this competition in many years.
