YHS teams up with ESPN The Magazine

Seventy-five percent of total profits go back to team

Special to the Sierra Star

Yosemite High School is participating in a unique fund-raising program, selling subscriptions to ESPN The Magazine to help raise much-needed funds for its football team.

Headed by Erik Peterson, the Badgers are selling two-year subscriptions (52 issues) for $40 — a savings of over 80 percent off the newsstand price.

Unlike other fund-raising efforts, an unprecedented 75 percent of the total sale goes directly back to the team. With checks made payable to Yosemite High School Football, the program receives $30 for every subscription sold.

With hundreds of participating schools, ESPN The Magazine’s Innovative Coaches Fund-raising Program is helping to keep athletic programs up and running. Local teams decide how the funds earned will be used, including the purchasing of new equipment and uniforms, providing scholarships, reducing participation fees, defraying travel and tournament costs or holding an awards banquet.

ESPN The Magazine is a provocative and innovative sports publication. Full of insight, analysis, impact and wit, the oversized biweekly looks ahead to give fans a unique perspective on the world of sports.

Consider supporting this fund-raising effort for the local football team’s benefit. Remember, that’s $30 for each subscription sold, going straight to the team.
