FISH
CAMP — The setting was perfect for a Christmas party. Snow blanketed
the ground and the fire in the lodge was cozy as 240 guests arrived
at the Tenaya Lodge for the Fourth Annual Mountain Area Holiday
Party. The complete package included a buffet, drinks, a night of
entertainment, including many raffles and a room in the hotel for
the night.
Many of the businesses which attended reserved several of the round
tables and then pulled them together so everyone could share in
the celebration. A full bar greeted the party-goers at the double-door
entrance to the banquet hall. Inside the evening’s entertainment
began with the angelic Christmas singing of both the Yosemite High
School Treble Emsemble and the YHS Chamber Singers led by Yosemite
High School Music Director Tony Mowrer. They were accompanied during
the performances by a succession of three pianists: Jonathan Costa,
Analyse Johnson and Dr. Marcia Freedman.
Later, after a full buffet, the evening ratcheted up several notches
with the country western band Hired Hand out of Fresno. The two
lead singers, brothers Jeff and John Swenning sang from country
to rock-and-roll with a large dose of blues throughout. Dancers
kept the dance floor crowded and line-dances saw elbows flying and
feet stomping.
The crowd came early and stayed late. In the morning a breakfast
was available around the fire of the Sierra Room.
