School districts to study merger

Two public school-board meetings will be held within the next two weeks to evaluate agreements to merge school districts in the Mountain Area.

An agreement to merge Coarsegold and Chawanakee school districts has been drawn up, as has a similar agreement to merge Yosemite and Minarets high school districts.

Both meetings will invite the public and school staffs to “review the merger agreement, evaluate the strengths and weaknesses and evaluate the components that may need to be added,” says Bill McCabe, superintendent of both Coarsegold and Yosemite school districts.

Coarsegold District trustees will hold a meeting Monday [January 28] at 6:30 p.m. at the Coarsegold School’s library.

The Yosemite High School District Board of Trustees will meet Thursday, February 7, at 6:15 p.m. in the boardroom.
