The Greasers pair up
with the Pink Ladies in the musical production of “Grease,” presented as a
senior project of Yosemite High School student Laci Usher. Cast includes: FRONT — Kim Usher, Nathan
Vermeulen, Andrzej Zabicki and Anna Tompkins.
BACK — Andrew Burrell, Stephanie Paulsen, Laci Usher, Robert Ratchford,
Brook Bullock and Kyle Stivers.
Performances begin
this weekend.
The musical “Grease” will be presented by students of
Yosemite High School on Friday through Sunday [March 1-3] and the following
weekend, March 8-10.
The production is the senior project of Laci Usher, who is
producing and directing the musical, with the assistance of Stephanie Paulsen.
In an effort to encourage younger students in the area to
pursue a love of fine arts, the cast will also be presenting a benefit
performance as a final dress rehearsal for select local elementary and junior
high students.
“Grease,” a story set in life in the 1950s, has been a year
in the planning and is entirely student-run, financed, directed and produced.
Students have been working on the project since last
September, focusing on the many aspects of choreography, drama, music and
vocalization as well as costumes and stage design necessary to bring such a
large project to completion.
Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7 p.m. in the
Drama Room of Yosemite High School. Both Sunday matinees will be at 2 p.m.
Tickets will be $7 at the door. “If you come dressed in a
’50s costume on Friday [March 1] or March 9, you’ll receive $1 off the price of
your ticket,” says Laci.
It is advised that those attending reserve tickets before
the show by calling the “Grease” hotline at 683-1399.
The box office will open one hour prior to curtain time.
Seating is limited, and due to the popularity of this classic musical, it is
expected that some performances may be sold out.
