Vukoviches honored with ‘Golden Apple’

YHS Principal Steve Raupp presents the Golden Apple to Joyce Vukovich.

 

 

Bill and Joyce Vukovich are the recipients of the Golden Apple Award from the Yosemite Joint Union High School Dis­trict.

They were honored for their contributions to students in the district through financial awards to seniors and for a $25,000 donation to purchase the marquee for the school campus.

The Golden Apple Award is presented through the Mariposa-Madera County Charter Program of the Association of California School Administra­tors (ACSA). Awards are given at the group's annual dinner held at Bass Lake.

Mr. and Mrs. Vukovich established the Billy Vukovich III Foundation in memory of their son, Billy III, a 1981 Yosemite High School graduate who died in an auto racing accident in 1990.

Through the years, they have donated thousands of dollars worth of scholarships in their son’s memory, along with the marquee.
