Winter concert reminder

Don’t forget the Yosemite High School Music Department’s presentation of two concerts in Oakhurst, featuring instrumental and choral holiday tunes.

The concerts will be Thursday and Friday, December 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. The December 12 concert will be at Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church and the December 13 event will be at Mountain Christian Center.

Tickets are available at Dorsey's Hallmark, Oakhurst Frameworks and Mountain Candies; they may also be purchased from any music student or at the door. Prices are $7 for adults and $5 for children at the door. Tickets purchased in advance are reduced by $2 each.

Performances will feature all of the instrumental and choral ensembles at YHS under the direction of Carey Hurst and Tony Mowrer.

The choirs will perform holiday favorites, including Good King Wenceslas; Ding Dong, Merrily on High; The First Noel; and The Little Drummer Boy. There will also be selections by composers such as Haydn, Berlioz and Handel.

The bands will play such holiday tunes as Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson, Polish Christmas Music arranged by Johann deMeij and a Christmas Sing‑a‑long which requires audience participation.
