The Yosemite High School bands and choir will present their fall concert on Monday [October 21], at 7 p.m. at Mountain Christian Center. Admission is $7, and tickets will be available at the door.

Two bands, the Concert Band and the Wind Ensemble, both directed by Carey Hurst, will play a variety of pieces. Among the pieces the Concert Band will play “Country Wildflowers” a Scottish folk tune plus a medley from the musical, “Fiddler on the Roof.”

The Wind Ensemble will play a new arrangement of the “Star Spangled Banner” by Jack Stamp. It will also play “America the Beautiful” and “Four Winds” by Robert Sheldon.

The two bands will later combine for a piece called “Balladair” by Frank Erickson.

The high school choir, directed by Tony Mowrer, will sing its competition pieces that it will present at a festival Wednesday [October 23] at California State University, Fresno.

The bands and choir are also getting ready for their holiday concerts on December 12 and 13. The concert will be presented first at the Sierra Vista Church and the following night at the Mountain Christian Center.
