Mary McKinnon is in New York to perform in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Mary McKennon, a Yosemite High School cheerleader, will be marching in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 28.

Mary, who is co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad, received the invitation to participate in the famous New York parade when she attended cheer camp in Santa Barbara this summer. Since then she has organized several fund-raisers to help raise money for the dream-come-true trip for which she is grateful to those who helped.

She will be marching as part of a group called Universal Cheer Association cheerleaders, says her mother, Suzie McKennon. “NBC is the only network guaranteeing coverage for Mary’s group’s performance,” she explains. They will be following the Charlie Brown balloon for those in the Mountain Area watching for the group on television.

Mary left for New York on Wednesday accompanied by her mother, grandfather and two aunts. She will spend the week prior to the parade with other cheerleaders from across the United States practicing the routines they will perform on Thanksgiving.
