Adult education classes to start

Yosemite Adult Education will be offering a variety of classes starting in November. Some of the classes will be held at Yosemite High School in Oakhurst and some at Foothill High School in Coarsegold. The following classes will be held at Yosemite High School:

• Introduction to PC — Wednesday, November 6, from 6-9 p.m. in Computer Lab 32; cost is $15. This class is for the beginner. Students will learn how to turn on the computer, use the mouse and the computer.

• Beginning Windows — Tuesdays, November 12 and 19, from 6-9 p.m. in Computer Lab 31; cost is $15. This two-week seminar will teach the beginning student how to use Windows 98.

• Advanced Adobe Photoshop 7.0 — Starts Tuesday, November 19, and continues through December 17 from 6-9 p.m. in Computer Lab 32; cost is $30. A basic knowledge of Photoshop is a class prerequisite. This five-week class will teach setting up a monitor for color management, producing and printing consistent color, optimizing images for the web, creating web graphics using slices and rollovers and creating animated images for the web.

• Awareness of Health — Thursdays, November 14 and 21, from 6-8 p.m. in Room 24; cost is $20. The class will explore the science behind the spiritual practices of health and the spirituality behind the scientific aspects of health. This two-week class will include discussions/lectures combined with experiential exercises to introduce participants to the awareness of health.

The following classes will be held at Foothill High School on Yosemite Springs Parkway in Coarsegold:

• Introduction to the Internet — Starts Saturday, November 2, from 9 a.m. to noon in the computer lab; cost is $15. Students will learn how to get into the Internet and what to do once they are online. They will learn about e-mail and how to research a given topic.

• Intermediate Word — Starts Tuesday, November 12, and continue through November 26 from 5-8 p.m. in the computer lab; cost is $30. This three-week course covers the features of Word, which is word processing software. The first week will cover the basics of Word; the second week will cover beginning formatting; and the third week will cover advanced formatting. This is a basic course for those with no computer experience.
