MARIPOSA — “Everyone played great. Our active net play is something we have been working on, and it came together against Mariposa,” said head volleyball coach Michele Chenowith.

“It was a great start. Our energy level was high and our aggressiveness remained throughout the match,” she continued. The game was played a week ago Thursday.

The visiting team, Yosemite, won three straight games by the scores of 15-1, 15-8 and 15-2. Sharleena Hanft, Kristen Lownsbury, Micaela Young and Jennifer Kurtley pounded the Bears all night at the net resulting from accurate sets from McKenzie Cox.

Hanft, Lownsbury and Young had six kills apiece. Hanft had four stuff blocks followed by Young’s three and Kurtley’s two.

Cox had18 assists and seven digs. Young and Lownsbury had six digs each.

“Jenna Burrough’s serving was spectacular, and Lownsbury and Young hit bullets from the outside hitting position for winners,” said Chenowith. “Kurtley was very active around the net.”

The Badger’s next game was Tuesday at Chowchilla.
