Hot off the grill!

Dale Miller, a past president of the Sierra Sunrise Rotary Club adjusts
the grill on the club’s new barbecue unit that was built by the students in the
YHS Regional Occupational (ROP) welding class.
The students also built the trailer.

YHS welding students Jared Shisler and Jake Clendenning are served hot

member of the Sierra Sunrise Rotary Club.
Yosemite High School Report
Yosemite
High School welding students were the first to be served barbecue off the grill
they made for the Sierra Sunrise Rotary Club.
Past club
presidents Dale Miller and Steve Raupp, who is also YHS principal, barbecued
hot dogs for the students in the Regional Occupational Program (ROP) welding
class last week to thank them for their work to build the grill and the trailer
on which it is towed.
The YHS
students made the double grill and the trailer as a class project and as a service-learning
project. The Sunrise Rotary Club purchased all of the supplies for the unit.
Barbecues
are one of the main ways the Rotarians earn money for their many community
service projects. “We’re always cooking,” Mr. Miller said, noting that Mr. Raupp
and Chuck Heinbach are the club’s chief chefs.
