YHS to sing at dinner, concert

The singers of the Yosemite High School choir will present an elegant dinner/concert, “An Evening in December,” on Saturday, December 1, at the Oakhurst Community Center at 7 p.m.

The choir students will perform their festival pieces from the Fresno Pacific University Festival this past fall.

The Singers have chosen to include several folk melodies from foreign lands as well as traditional seasonal songs such as “Oh come, Oh Come, Emmanuel” and special arrangements of “Deck the Halls,” “The Little Drummer Boy,” and “Silent Night.”

Featured soloists will be Amanda Mitchell, Jordan Michel, Emily Gasiletti, Sam Roulett, and Amy Scott.  Several small ensembles will perform as well.  A solo oboe will be played by Ivy Kramer.

A menu provided by Crab Cakes Restaurant will include Crab Cakes salad, lemon herb breast of chicken and a special dessert by Sweet Dreams Cakery.

The choir students have planned this event as a fundraiser for an upcoming spring break trip to the Pacific Northwest.  There they will be sharing music with other choirs in that area.

Tickets are $25 and are on sale at Oakhurst Frameworks, Dorsey’s Hallmark, the YHS Music Department and any YHS choir student.  Information:  683-4667.
