Yosemite High School district
Tina
Torres, a senior at Ahwahnee High School, is hard at work on her picture, which
she calls “Where Your Dreams Are At.”
Students
at Ahwahnee High School combined several lessons recently with the final result
being sidewalk art in front of their school.
They used
mathematics and art to create the finished pieces, according to teacher Brenna
Neely.
Instructional
aide Carolyn Campbell adds that the students also learned about cooperation
through working as a team and they learned about personal development.
During the
week-long activity, the students saw a project through from beginning to end.
They worked all morning one day drawing on the asphalt in front of the school
with chalk. Earlier, they had made grids on paper and drew their pictures that
were then enlarged and drawn outside.
