The
Yosemite High School Agriculture Department has been selected as the “Outstanding
Department” in the East Fresno-Madera section.
Yosemite
was also chosen as the best “single person” department, with Steve Ecklund
serving as its sole instructor and Future Farmers of America advisor.
To earn
this award, the department had to be nominated and then voted for by the
teachers and advisors from other schools in the region.
Mr.
Ecklund received the award at a recent meeting of the California Agriculture
Teachers Association.
“We’ve
been working really hard to build this program,” says Mr. Ecklund, “and realize
that despite our many successes over the past three years, that we haven’t even
started to reach our full potential.
“Nonetheless,”
he adds, sometimes change and expectations can seem slow and at times
frustrating; thus it feels good to have our efforts acknowledged by your
peers.”
