Mock gingerbread houses
12-15-00
Students in the Life Skills classes at Yosemite High School were able to demonstrate their creativity, perform a community service project and brighten area residents’ holidays recently with their mock gingerbread house project.
Linda Heinbach teaches four Life Skills classes and as a winter project the students design and build the houses. These are given to Manna House to include with food baskets in December.
Students may work alone or with a partner to create the house.
The projects ranged from igloos to churches to traditional gingerbread houses. Two students, Travis Trettin and Bevin Balaguy, teamed up to build a completely edible house using crackers and candy. Jacob Monge constructed a house with movable objects inside, designed to serve as a child’s playhouse while Robby Armstrong’s project was a traditional house with a large yard area.
This is an annual community service project for the class.
