Hawks Cheer Squad
Rivergold
School includes an eighth grade class this year. The motto for the
year is: Dream, Believe, Achieve!
“As we start our first year as a K-8 school we are encouraged by all
of the support from our parents and the community,” says Principal
Bob Rose. “The staff of Rivergold strives to provide a caring educational
environment with a rigorous academic and enrichment program.”
The school is offering a cheer squad for the first time and a full
Academic Pentathlon Team.
Rose says as Rivergold grows they want to encourage all community
members to get involved at the school. “There is nothing more rewarding
than helping a child discover the joy of learning,” he says.
Those who would like to help can contact Rose at 658-7566 option #4
or by email brose@coarsegoldusd.com . “You can help a child dream,
believe, and achieve by helping in a classroom or the library,” the
principal says.

Rivergold primary
classes invited grandparents to celebrate Grandparents Day with them
at school Friday, September 5. Classes celebrate in different ways
- from grandparents sharing what school was like when they went to
school in “the old days,” to making crafts together or having a little
party together with cookies and punch. “The students get so excited
when their grandparents get to come and see their classrooms and meet
their friends,” says Principal Bob Rose. He adds that this day really
is a tribute to grandparents and to honor them for all they do. “It’s
a special day and the teachers really enjoy it too,” he says.
Rivergold Leadership Class takes part in helping the Rivergold student
body become a community of leaders. The Leadership Class consists
of elected student representatives. The following are the elected
officials for the 2003-04 school year: Ben Hand, president; Trevor
Pemelton, vice president; Daniel Tennant, secretary; Calliope Holingue,
treasurer; Matt Dominici and Tyler Rasmussen, activity directors;
and class representatives from sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Shelby
Levine and Cindy Simons act as facilitators. The class is in the process
of planning rallies, dances and other activities. As one student says,
“The class is made up of 100 percent leaders at heart!”
